Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 35 Battalion have arrested three suspected logistics couriers allegedly conveying ₦2.7 million ($1,600) in ransom money and mobile phones to a terror kingpin in Katsina State.
The suspects were apprehended on Thursday, 24 September 2026, at approximately 11:30 am while travelling on a motorcycle through Faskari Local Government Area.
Military sources identified the arrested individuals as Habibu Hamza, 35, along with two teenagers aged 15 and 16.
According to preliminary interrogations, the suspects were transporting the cash, one smartphone, and two basic mobile devices to intermediaries linked to prominent armed criminal networks operating in the Yankuzo and Unguwan Tsamiya areas of Faskari.
Military authorities described the broader security situation in the area as calm but unpredictable, emphasizing that counter-terrorism patrols will continue across major highways and rural communities.
