Engineers in northern Nigeria have conducted a joint inspection of a major power substation ahead of a key installation phase designed to boost electricity capacity in the region.
Officials from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and contracting firm Imcomtel Engineering Limited visited the Katsina 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation on Thursday, 24 September.
The site visit, led by TCN’s Assistant General Manager for the Katsina Sub-Region, Usman Idris, focused on civil works, equipment layout, and supporting infrastructure to ensure the site is ready for the upcoming construction phase.
A key focus of the assessment was two 100MVA power transformers delivered to the site in July. Once fully installed and integrated, the transformers are expected to significantly improve grid reliability and power distribution across Katsina State and parts of northwestern Nigeria.
Inspectors also evaluated four newly installed control units designed to house protection, monitoring, and automated control systems.
TCN and Imcomtel confirmed they have aligned on the final technical requirements ahead of the next phase of work as the project nears completion.
