A pro-government media group has strongly backed the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards to rescue abducted students and teachers in south-western Oyo State, saying the move demonstrates President Bola Tinubu’s deep empathy for the victims.
The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) said they were highly confident that the emergency measures would lead to the safe return of the hostages, whose abduction has sparked angry street protests and nationwide outrage.
In a joint statement, the group’s chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, praised the rapid deployment of a high-powered federal delegation led by Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to the affected communities.
The group welcomed the federal government’s wide-ranging response, which includes the immediate recruitment of guards, the deployment of specialized tracking units, and plans for a new military outpost in the area.
They noted that while the deployment of forest guards is a temporary solution, it marks an important step toward the eventual establishment of state-controlled policing in Nigeria.
The volunteers also applauded President Tinubu’s firm stance that no Nigerian child should be denied an education due to the fear of kidnapping and urged the public to support the administration’s security offensive.
