Leo Radvinsky, the billionaire owner of the subscription platform OnlyFans, has died at the age of 43 following a battle with cancer.
The Ukrainian-born entrepreneur passed away peacefully in Pompano Beach, Florida, a spokesperson confirmed on Monday. The company said it was “deeply saddened” by the loss of its majority shareholder, adding that his family has requested privacy.
Mr Radvinsky, whose net worth was estimated at $4.7bn (£3.7bn), was the driving force behind the platform’s explosive growth over the last six years.
A digital revolution
OnlyFans was originally founded in the UK by the Stokely family in 2016, but it was Mr Radvinsky’s acquisition of the firm in 2018 that transformed it into a global phenomenon.
Under his leadership, the site moved beyond its niche origins to become a powerhouse of the “creator economy.” While it hosts chefs, fitness instructors, and musicians, it became synonymous with adult content—a move that generated unprecedented revenue but also significant corporate friction.
In 2024, users spent a record $7.2bn on the platform. Between 2021 and 2025, Mr Radvinsky reportedly paid himself approximately $1.8bn in dividends, making him one of the most successful, yet elusive, figures in the tech industry.
The ‘Adult Content’ hurdle
Despite the platform’s immense profitability, Mr Radvinsky faced persistent challenges in bringing OnlyFans into the corporate mainstream.
Last year, reports emerged that he had attempted to sell the platform but struggled to find a buyer. Industry analysts attributed this to the “stigma” associated with adult entertainment, which has often led to complications with traditional banks and payment processors.
From Odessa to Florida
Born in the Ukrainian city of Odessa, Mr Radvinsky was a prolific angel investor and philanthropist before his involvement with OnlyFans.
While he was often described as a “ghost” in the tech world due to his low public profile, his influence on the way digital content is monetized was profound. He is survived by his family in Florida, where he had lived for several years.
