Abuja, Nigeria – Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has publicly condemned one of its former staff members after he was spotted on a social media matchmaking programme. The commission has since ordered his immediate arrest for the illegal retention of official property.
In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the EFCC identified the individual as Olakunle Alex Folarin, a former driver at the agency’s Ibadan Zonal Directorate. He was dismissed from his role after an investigation confirmed he had forged his academic credentials.
The EFCC’s Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, has ordered Folarin’s arrest, citing his continued possession of an official identity card and other commission property that should have been returned upon his dismissal. The agency advised the public against associating Folarin’s actions with the commission’s work and reiterated its commitment to upholding its integrity.
