Abuja, Nigeria – The Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has praised Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu for his efforts to stabilise the country’s economy.
During a visit to the Presidential Villa, Ms Okonjo-Iweala said that President Tinubu and his team “have worked hard to stabilise the economy” and should be “given the credit” for their actions. She described the reforms as being “in the right direction.”
The WTO chief added that the next priority for Nigeria should be to focus on economic growth and job creation. She also emphasised the need for the government to implement social safety nets to support citizens who are feeling the effects of the reforms.
Ms Okonjo-Iweala said that these issues had been discussed with the president, but she did not provide further details.
