Nigerian Student Honoured with 18 Awards for Academic Excellence

New Karu, Nasarawa – A Nigerian student has been celebrated for his exceptional academic performance at the 10th graduation ceremony of St. Augustine College in Nasarawa State. Anthony Toruka was named the overall best graduating student, receiving 18 awards and a prize of ₦300,000 (approximately $380 USD).

Toruka achieved a score of 364 in the 2025 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations, a result that has set a new record for the school. He was described by the school’s principal, Reverend Father Michael Okpe, as a “child of exceptional grace” and a shining example for his peers.

The ceremony, themed “Life is a Marathon, Not a Sprint,” celebrated the graduating class of 2025. In his address, Toruka expressed gratitude to his family and teachers, while his mother, Mrs. Dominica Toruka, praised the school’s supportive environment.

The guest speaker, Mrs. Emily Offodile, encouraged the graduates to embrace life’s challenges with courage and to develop critical soft skills. The outgoing Head Boy, Oluwatairilore Ajiboye, assured attendees that the class was well-prepared to face the world ahead.
