ABUJA, NIGERIA – Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially announced the schedule for the 2025 Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. The initiative aims to provide eligible Nigerians with the opportunity to register to vote ahead of forthcoming elections.
According to a public announcement from the commission’s official social media handle, the registration process will be conducted in two phases.
Online pre-registration will begin on August 18, 2025, and can be accessed through the INEC portal at https://cvr.inecnigeria.org.
Following this, in-person registration will commence on August 25, 2025. This phase will take place at all INEC Local Government Area (LGA) offices nationwide, as well as at other designated registration centres. The in-person registration will run from Monday to Friday, between the hours of 9:00am and 3:00pm.
In the lead up to the 2023 General elections, the total number of registered voters in the country was 93,469,008. Analysts predicted that the number could reach the one hundred million mark at the end of the current registration exercise.
The announcement serves as a call to action for citizens, with the slogan “Your vote starts with registration. Don’t miss your opportunity to register.”
