ABUJA, NIGERIA – The Armed Forces of Nigeria, in collaboration with various security agencies, have reported significant successes in their ongoing military operations across the country from June 30 to July 10, 2025. The operations, which span both kinetic and non-kinetic lines, resulted in the killing of numerous terrorists, bandits, and IPOB/ESN criminals, with several others arrested or surrendering to troops.
According to the weekly report signed by Major General Markus Kangye, Director Defence Media Operations, the military’s professionalism and resilience continue to inspire confidence in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
In the Niger Delta (Operation DELTA SAFE), troops reportedly foiled oil theft amounting to over ₦263.8 million (approximately $175,000 USD). This included the recovery of 198,482 litres of stolen crude oil, 63,846 litres of illegally refined AGO (diesel), and 947 litres of PMS (petrol). Forces also destroyed 24 crude oil cooking ovens, 26 dugout pits, and 15 illegal refining sites, while arresting eight oil thieves and other criminals.
In the Northeast (Operation HADIN KAI), kinetic operations between July 4-9 targeted Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in areas including Platari, Sambisa Forest, and the Timbuktu triangle, leading to the elimination of scores of insurgents. A high-profile terrorist commander, identified as Ibn Ali, reportedly surrendered in Bama LGA of Borno State. Troops also rescued four kidnapped victims and recovered arms, ammunition, and N822,500.00 cash.
In the Northwest (Operation FANSAN YAMMA), a major offensive on July 10, involving both air and surface forces, reportedly eliminated numerous terrorist leaders and commanders in Zamfara State. Troops also conducted patrols across Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Katsina states, killing several terrorists, arresting five, and rescuing two kidnapped victims. Recovered items included arms, ammunition, and motorcycles.
Operations in the North-Central (Operation SAFE HAVEN and Operation WHIRL STROKE) saw troops conducting offensive operations and responding to distress calls in Plateau, Kaduna, Benue, Taraba, Nasarawa, Kogi, and the FCT. Forces reportedly killed extremists, arrested 26 individuals (including an extremists’ kingpin identified as Liamdoo Douglas Adekpe, also known as Bajor, in Taraba State), and rescued nine kidnapped victims. Arms, ammunition, and vehicles were also recovered.
In the Southeast (Operation UDO KA), continuous efforts led to the arrest of a sponsor and logistic supplier to a prominent IPOB/ESN camp in Ihiala LGA of Anambra State on July 2, following an earlier arrest of a POS vendor. Four POS machines, two mobile phones, and ₦250,600.00 were recovered. Four suspected IPOB/ESN members/informants were also arrested in Anambra and Imo states.
The Armed Forces of Nigeria reiterated their commitment to defending the nation’s territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of all Nigerians, vowing to continue their operations until peace and normalcy are fully restored.
