Kogi Governor Praises Media Role in Transparency, Launches Performance Report

The Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo, has commended media professionals for their dedication to promoting transparency and keeping the state’s citizens informed about government activities.

Speaking at the official launch of Kogi State’s first Annual Media Performance Report in Lokoja, Governor Ododo, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Folashade Ayoade, described the report as a “landmark initiative” aligning with his administration’s commitment to open governance.

He emphasized that effective communication goes beyond the quantity of media coverage, focusing on the accuracy, sentiment, and overall impact of the information shared with the public.

Governor Ododo urged media stakeholders to maintain objectivity and fairness in their reporting. He stressed that the government does not support exaggeration but believes in truthfully communicating the administration’s achievements.

Acknowledging the collective effort behind the media performance report, Governor Ododo highlighted the crucial role played by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, and his team in producing the document, which he noted reflects the administration’s values of teamwork and effective communication.

He expressed his deep appreciation to journalists both within and outside Kogi State, recognizing their sacrifices in their professional duties. Governor Ododo further pledged to facilitate direct engagement between members of the press and the Kogi State Government, assuring that his administration values the media’s role in building public trust and shaping public discourse.

Earlier, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, emphasized that the report serves not only as a review of past media coverage but also as a tool to refine future communication strategies. He thanked Governor Ododo for his consistent support and called for continued collaboration between the government and the media to strengthen public trust and accelerate the development of Kogi State.

The Vice President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Zone D and General Manager of Prime FM Lokoja, Momoh Jimoh Adeiza, hailed the report as a significant achievement. He urged the Kogi State government to increase its support for the media, thereby empowering journalists to further contribute to the state’s development.
