Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has empowered 500 women from Kogi State, emphasizing the crucial role women play in the country’s economic development.
At an event held at the Muhammadu Buhari Square in Lokoja, Mrs. Tinubu, represented by Sefinat Ododo, highlighted the importance of supporting women in nation-building. The empowerment initiative, part of the Renewed Hope Initiative, aims to bolster the nation’s economic prosperity by providing women with essential business tools.

The initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, prioritizing inclusivity, economic growth, and sustainable development, especially for women. A total of 18,500 women across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones are expected to benefit from the program, starting with states in the North Central zone.

Mrs. Tinubu emphasized that women’s empowerment is vital to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly goals 5 and 8, focusing on gender equality and economic growth. The empowerment program provided beneficiaries with business tools, including deep-chest freezers, maxi gas cookers, generators, and industrial grinding machines, to support women and expand their businesses.
The First Lady encouraged the recipients to utilize the items effectively to achieve self-reliance and contribute to the nation’s economic development.
