Nigeria’s President Tinubu Signs Historic Bill Establishing Federal University in Ogoniland

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed into law the Federal University of Environment and Technology, Tai (Ogoniland) Establishment bill, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s journey towards environmental justice, education, and sustainable development.

The signing ceremony took place at the State House, with Senator Mpigi Barinada, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, the Minister of Education, and other top government officials in attendance.

The new university is expected to serve as a centre of excellence, equipping young Nigerians with the knowledge and skills to tackle environmental challenges, drive clean energy solutions, and contribute to the country’s sustainable economic development.

President Tinubu emphasized the significance of the university, stating that it reaffirms the government’s commitment to the people of Ogoni, the Niger Delta, and the entire nation. He also thanked the National Assembly for passing the bill into law and commended the Ogoni delegation for their steadfast advocacy for justice and environmental restoration.
