Hon. Ifeoluwa Babajide Ehindero, a member of Nigeria’s National Assembly, has been conferred with the title of Grand Patron by the Association of Ondo Media Practitioners (AOMP). The honour recognizes his contributions to the growth and welfare of journalists in Ondo State and Nigeria.
During the AOMP’s annual end-of-year corporate event in Abuja, Hon. Ehindero emphasized the importance of health and well-being among media professionals. He urged journalists to prioritize their physical and mental health, despite the demanding nature of their work.
“We must remember that health is wealth,” Hon. Ehindero said. “I encourage you to take regular breaks, undergo routine medical check-ups, and adopt practices that promote both mental and physical well-being.”
In a touching moment, Hon. Ehindero announced an educational scholarship for the daughter of late journalist, John Olasunkanmi Oba. The scholarship is a tribute to Mr Oba’s legacy and a commitment to supporting the education of his daughter.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, who commended Hon. Ehindero’s advocacy for journalists’ health and well-being.
The AOMP President, Shola Akingboye, also emphasized the need for collective action to safeguard journalists’ well-being. “Our members often work in high-pressure environments that can take a toll on their health,” he said. “Hon. Ehindero’s message serves as a timely reminder for all of us to prioritize self-care while fulfilling our professional duties.”
