Kogi First Lady Urges Youths to Make Positive Choices Amidst Social Media Pressures

Kogi State First Lady, Sefinat Ododo, has cautioned youths against the negative influences of social media, urging them to focus on making positive choices that can secure a bright future. Mrs Ododo expressed concern over the level of moral decadence in the social media space, advising youths, particularly young women, to desist from acts that portray womanhood in bad light. She also decried the involvement of the younger generation in social vices such as internet fraud, emphasizing the need for youths to acquire entrepreneurial skills in relevant vocations, including Information and Communication Technology.

Mrs Ododo gave the advice in Okene in continuation of the 16 days of activism and awareness campaign on the Elimination of Violence Against Women and girls held at the Palace of Ohinoyi of Ebiraland on Monday.

The First Lady appealed to parents to take advantage of the free education provided by the administration of Governor Ahmed Ododo to enroll their wards in schools.

The Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Ahmed Anaje, emphasized the importance of peace, love, respect, and discipline in the family, urging parents, particularly fathers, not to abandon their duties as head of the family.

Director General, Kogi State Pension Commission, Maryam Abedo, advised women to discourage any form of molestation and always speak out and report such cases to the appropriate authority.

She also urged parents to instil in their sons proper ways of treating their spouses and to have mutual respect to build a healthy society.
