The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has expressed his condolences to the government and people of Jigawa State, particularly the families of those affected by the devastating tanker explosion that occurred on October 15, 2024, in Majia, Taura Local Government Area. The tragic incident claimed over 100 lives and left more than 70 people seriously injured, with many currently receiving treatment at various hospitals in the state.
IGP Egbetokun praised the swift response of police personnel and emergency responders in extinguishing the fire, evacuating victims, and restoring normalcy in the area. He urged motorists and road users to exercise caution and adhere to safety guidelines.
The police chief reassured the public of the force’s commitment to preventing similar incidents through education and awareness campaigns.
