Kogi Governor Praises APC’s Return to Power in Edo State

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has extended warm congratulations to Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, on his victory in the Edo State Governorship election held on September 21, 2024.

Senator Okpebholo secured 291,667 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 247,274 votes.

Governor Ododo in a statement signed by his media Adviser, Isa Ismail, praised the Edo state Governor-elect and the APC leadership for their resilience and determination, which led to the party’s return to power in Edo state. He also commended the people of Edo state for their peaceful and orderly conduct during the polls, as well as INEC and law enforcement agencies for their professionalism in ensuring law and order prevailed.

The Kogi State Governor, who was instrumental in securing APC’s victory in Akoko-Edo with 34,847 votes, reiterated the party’s promise to prioritize the welfare of Edo state citizens and carry every segment of the state along in the development agenda. This aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Governor Ododo expressed commitment to deepening partnership between Kogi and Edo states, neighboring regions with social, cultural, and economic ties. He prayed for God’s guidance for Senator Okpebholo to steer Edo state into a new chapter of development.

The Edo State governorship election was keenly contested, with Senator Okpebholo emerging victorious. His win marks a significant return of the APC to power in the state.
