Nigeria’s President Tinubu Launches Disaster Relief Fund Amid Flood Crisis

Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu has announced a disaster relief fund to support citizens affected by floods and other natural disasters.

During a visit to Borno State, President Tinubu pledged to work with the private sector to rebuild affected areas and invited governors to contribute to the fund.

The move comes after severe flooding caused by the collapse of the Alau Dam displaced thousands of people in Borno and neighboring states.

“We must have a disaster relief fund… If we take a small percentage from FAAC and put it as disaster relief fund, it will strengthen our sense of belonging,” President Tinubu said.

The President commended Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Zulum for his prompt response to the crisis and thanked the military for their evacuation efforts.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio promised the National Assembly’s support in establishing the fund.
