Nigeria to Launch National Values Charter to Promote Moral Reawakening

The Nigerian government is set to launch a National Values Charter aimed at fostering moral, ethical, and cultural reawakening among citizens. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced the initiative in Abuja on Wednesday, stating that the charter will ensure Nigerians are aware of their rights and protections under the constitution and the laws of the land.

The charter, designed by the National Orientation Agency (NOA), comprises seven “Core Promises” and seven “Commitments” to sensitize citizens to their responsibilities and promote unity and inclusiveness. Minister Idris praised the NOA for leveraging technology to scale up public awareness and engagement, describing it as one of the most technology-compliant agencies in Nigeria.

The launch is part of the government’s effort to shape national narratives and conversations, promoting unity and a sense of belonging among citizens. The Minister expressed determination to foster a country where citizens and the government share mutual love and respect
