Parts of Ogun State in South-West Nigeria are experiencing temporary power outages this week as engineers conduct essential maintenance on the local electrical grid.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced on Thursday that maintenance crews have begun two days of scheduled servicing on two major 30MVA transformers at the Sagamu Transmission Substation. The work, designed to ensure system reliability and long-term performance, is taking place on Thursday, 3 September, and Friday, 4 September, between 10:00 and 17:00 local time each day. During these hours, the regional distributor, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), is unable to draw electricity from the affected units to supply local networks.
Areas Affected
Thursday, 3 September: Interruption to supplies in REAL and Sagamu following work on the T1 transformer.
Friday, 4 September: Interruption affecting customers served by the T2 transformer, including industrial facilities and major institutions such as CEPLASS, NNPC/Ogijo, Metafrique, and Babcock University.
TCN apologized to residents and commercial consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience caused while the routine servicing is completed.
