Lokoja, Nigeria – The Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has offered his condolences following the passing of former Senator Isah Obaro Abonyi, a veteran statesman.
Senator Obaro represented the area that is now the Kogi Central Senatorial District (then part of Kwara South) in the Nigerian Senate from 1979 to 1983. He is credited with leaving a strong legacy of dedication to public service and constituency development.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, Governor Ododo described the late Senator Obaro as a distinguished patriot whose contributions to the unity and growth of Kogi State are deeply valued.
The Governor highlighted the former Senator’s life of “integrity, humility and service,” noting that he maintained close contact with state leaders, offering valuable advice on development matters.
Governor Ododo called the passing a “significant loss” not only to Senator Obaro’s immediate family and the Kogi Central area but to the entire state.
