Nigerian Foundation Champions Legal Mentorship with Scholarship Awards

Abuja, Nigeria — The Johnny Agim, SAN Foundation (JASAN Foundation) has intensified its drive to institutionalise mentorship within Nigeria’s legal profession, using a major dialogue event to announce the winners of its annual scholarship essay competition.

The announcement came on the heels of #TheLegacyDialogue2.0, a convergence of legal experts held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja. The foundation’s efforts were outlined in a press release signed by Victoria Babadara, the Programme & Communications Officer (PCO).

The dialogue focused on the theme: “Institutionalisation of Mentorship in the Legal Profession: A Strategic Blueprint for Professional Development,” where participants discussed embedding structured mentorship systems from university law faculties through to the Nigerian Law School and beyond.

Winners Receive Full Law School Sponsorship

In line with its Mentorship, Sponsorship, Reforms, and Advocacy (MSRA) Blueprint, the foundation used the event to name the winners of the second edition of the #Legacy500 Elite Sponsorship/Scholarship Essay Competition.

The competition was open to final-year law students and prospective Nigerian Law School candidates across the country, attracting 86 high-quality submissions. Following a two-phase selection process overseen by a distinguished panel of judges, nine exceptional winners were chosen.

Each of the nine successful candidates, drawn from institutions including the University of Ibadan and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, will receive a full-tuition scholarship to attend the Nigerian Law School (Bar Part II, 2026 Session).

The foundation noted that while it had initially targeted 30 beneficiaries, only nine applicants met the “stringent evaluation standards,” underscoring the foundation’s “uncompromising commitment to excellence and integrity” in its investment in future legal leaders.

The JASAN Foundation congratulated the winners, welcoming them into its network of young legal professionals dedicated to upholding the highest standards of the profession.
