Kogi Governor praises media unity after election of new online publishers’ guild president

The Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo, has congratulated Danlami Nmodu, the publisher of NewsDiaryOnline, on his recent election as President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) in Nigeria.

The Governor, speaking through his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, commended the election process held in Lagos, which saw Mr. Nmodu emerge as the new head of the influential media body, succeeding Dr. Maureen Chigbo.

Governor Ododo described the outcome as a demonstration of maturity and professionalism within the Guild, noting the peaceful and rancour-free conduct of the vote, where many candidates ran unopposed.

He urged the new leadership to uphold the standards of responsible journalism, fairness, and accountability that have established GOCOP as a leading voice in Nigeria’s media landscape. Governor Ododo further reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting press freedom, which he described as a vital pillar for strengthening democracy and ensuring public accountability.
