JASAN Foundation Expands Elite Scholarship Eligibility, Extends Deadline

Abuja, Nigeria.

The Johnny Agim, SAN Foundation (JASAN Foundation) has announced an expansion of its flagship scholarship programme, opening the door to a wider pool of prospective legal professionals in Nigeria.

In a statement signed by Victoria Babadara, the Programmes and Communications Director for the JASAN Foundation, the organisation confirmed an extension of the application deadline for the 2nd Edition of its #Legacy500 Elite Mentees Sponsorship/Scholarship Programme and Essay Competition. The new deadline has been moved from Monday, 6th October 2025, to midnight of Monday, 13th October 2025. Crucially, the JASAN Foundation has also broadened the eligibility criteria. The programme is now open to prospective Nigerian Law School candidates who have graduated within the last 24 months from any recognised Federal or State University across the country. This expansion goes beyond the previous focus on current final-year law students. The Foundation indicated the move was intended to accommodate “amply qualified and indigent law graduates” who may be awaiting Law School admission but are held back by financial constraints or systemic delays. The Foundation stated that the decision reflects its commitment to “accessibility and support,” ensuring that financial limitations do not hinder access to legal education and mentorship at the highest level for promising future legal practitioners. The #Legacy500 initiative is designed to invest in the next generation of elite legal minds. Applicants for the competition are required to submit an essay on the topic: “The Legal Exchange: Benefits of Scholarship & Mentorship to the Student & the Legal Profession.”

Full details regarding the benefits and requirements of the sponsorship programme can be found on the Foundation’s website.
