ABUJA — Power supply has been restored to parts of Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, following the completion of emergency maintenance at the Kukwaba transmission substation, grid operators say.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) confirmed that engineers successfully re-energised a 60MVA power transformer at 20:31 local time on Thursday, September 24.
The transformer had been isolated earlier in the afternoon to allow technical crews to replace a faulty blue-phase circuit breaker pole on the 33kV L31 feeder.
The maintenance work temporarily cut power to customers supplied by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).
In a statement released on Friday, TCN management confirmed that all repair work was completed safely and thanked affected residents for their patience during the outage.
