Abuja to Host 2026 World Public Relations Forum in November

Nigeria is preparing to host global public relations executives, diplomats, policymakers, and academics in Abuja this November for the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF).

Organized by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in collaboration with the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, the week-long summit will operate under the central theme: “Responsible Communication — The Voice of the World.”

New Global Governance Framework

Speaking at a diplomatic briefing in Abuja, NIPR President Ike Neliaku outlined plans for the summit to establish a long-term strategic direction for the global communications sector.

Key operational objectives and event highlights include:

  • The Abuja Declaration: Delegates aim to draft an updated global charter on responsible communication, updating standards first established under the landmark Mexico 1978 declaration to address modern digital challenges, artificial intelligence, and misinformation.
  • High-Level Assemblies: The forum will incorporate the 37th African Public Relations Association (APRA) Conference, an African Ministers of Information Roundtable, and the Global Youth Public Relations Summit.
  • Keynote Leadership: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled as chief host, while Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema is expected to deliver the presidential keynote address.

Cultural and Community Initiatives

The gathering will feature major cultural components alongside core professional programming.

Organizers announced the launch of the maiden Nigeria Jollof Rice Festival—a social responsibility initiative targeted at feeding approximately 10,000 residents—alongside dedicated African fashion and tailoring exhibitions.

Main summit sessions will take place at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja, backed by designated hotel and security logistics across the capital to accommodate international delegations.
