Russia’s defence ministry says Ukraine launched its largest drone attack of the year overnight, claiming air defence systems shot down 822 Ukrainian drones across the country.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said more than 600 of the drones were intercepted while heading towards the Russian capital. Regional Governor Andrey Vorobyov described the offensive as “one of the most massive drone attacks in recent memory.”
Despite the interceptions, a major logistics warehouse in the Moscow region belonging to Wildberries—frequently dubbed “Russia’s Amazon”—was struck, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky.
Ukrainian military officials stated they have now disabled seven of the retail giant’s 10 largest logistics centres in recent weeks. Kyiv maintains the warehouses function as logistics hubs supplying the Russian military with drone components and navigation equipment. The Kremlin denies the facilities serve any military purpose.

Deadly Overnight Bombardment Across Ukraine
Concurrently, Russian missile and drone strikes hit targets across Ukraine, killing at least eight people and injuring 39 others.
Impacts and casualties reported by regional officials include:
- Sumy Region: Two men aged 51 and 59 were killed in separate drone and vehicle strikes.
- Zaporizhzhia Region: A residential strike killed two individuals in their 60s.
- Dnipropetrovsk Region: Two fatalities were recorded following attacks on Kryvyi Rih.
- Donetsk and Kherson Regions: One death was reported in each region.
- Kyiv and Odesa: Six people were injured in the Kyiv region, while a strike on an Odesa post office wounded two.
In Kyiv, a Russian overnight strike hit a long-standing second-hand book and flea market, reducing hundreds of stalls to rubble and ash. While Moscow maintained it targeted military supply infrastructure, business owners on the ground reported the destruction of personal livelihoods, books, and household goods.
