The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Bemgha Paul Koughna, has conducted an operational assessment of border communities in Sokoto State following security threats linked to the Lakurawa militant group.
The military delegation visited the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Kebbe Local Government Area and surrounding communities after reports of a renewed insurgent attack on Ungushi village.
In response to the incursions, the military has restructured its tactical positions along the vulnerable border corridor connecting Sokoto and Kebbi states to prevent further infiltrations.

During the operational tour, General Koughna met with community leaders and residents to evaluate security conditions on the ground. He assured local populations that troops remain fully deployed and operationally positioned to neutralize threats to civilian areas.

The GOC appealed to residents to maintain routine activities while urging greater local collaboration with security forces by sharing actionable intelligence in a timely manner to help dismantle insurgent networks operating in the region.
