Youth and student bodies across Kogi State have expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the official completion and commissioning of the Barefoot Renewable Energy College in Osara.
In a statement signed by Oladele John Nihi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Student Matters, on Tuesday, the youth leadership described the institution as a transformative landmark that reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to sustainable development, education, and economic empowerment under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The newly established college is designed to equip young Nigerians with practical technical skills in solar technology, renewable energy maintenance, and green innovation, positioning the state as a key regional hub for clean energy training.
Strategic leadership and vision
The statement also commended Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo, for his proactive support in securing state-level infrastructure and creating an enabling environment for federal projects to thrive within the state.
Furthermore, the youths applauded the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha, for his administrative leadership and commitment to bringing the project to operational fruition.
“This landmark project is a clear testament to what can be achieved through focused leadership and strategic collaboration,” the statement read. “The establishment of the Barefoot Renewable Energy College will not only bridge the technical skill gap among our youth but will also drive sustainable economic growth across Kogi State and the wider region.”
The youth leadership urged young residents to take full advantage of the specialized training programs at the institution to build sustainable careers in the emerging green economy.
