At least five people have been killed and 10 others injured following an overnight Ukrainian drone attack on an industrial warehouse near Moscow, regional officials say.
Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov confirmed that a facility in Novoselki, Chekhov—roughly 43 miles (69 km) south of the Kremlin—was hit and set alight. An electrical substation and an administrative building were also damaged in the strike.
Vorobyov stated on Telegram that seven of those injured are in a moderate condition, while one person remains in serious condition.
While Russian authorities did not identify the operator of the facility, local listings and Ukrainian media linked the site to Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer. The retail giant has repeatedly seen its logistics hubs targeted by Ukrainian drone operations in recent weeks.
Escalating strikes on supply networks
The overnight wave of attacks reportedly extended to other commercial hubs, with local officials confirming that Wildberries facilities in the St Petersburg and Tver regions were also targeted. Wildberries confirmed its St Petersburg location was hit, though it has not commented on the Moscow site.
Kyiv maintains that the company’s vast distribution network is utilized to supply material to the Russian military, an assertion Moscow denies.
Concurrently, Russian forces launched missile and drone strikes across several Ukrainian regions overnight, leaving at least four people dead and multiple others injured.
Russia’s defence ministry claimed its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 320 Ukrainian drones during the overnight barrage.
