At least seven people, including three children, have been killed after a Ukrainian drone struck a crowded beach in south-west Russia, local officials say.
The Operational Headquarters of Krasnodar Krai confirmed that 40 others sustained injuries during the strike on Arkhipo-Osipovka beach, located near the Black Sea resort town of Gelendzhik. Twenty-one people have been admitted to hospital, while 19 received outpatient treatment.
Footage verified by the BBC shows the moment the drone impacted the beach area. It remains unclear whether the aircraft was intercepted before impact, though reports suggest it may have been targeting a Russian naval installation located roughly 25 miles (40 km) away.
Regional Governor Veniamin Kondratyev blamed Ukraine for the attack. The Ukrainian military has not yet commented on the incident.
Infrastructure targeted elsewhere
In a separate incident, an apparent Ukrainian drone struck a major distribution warehouse belonging to Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, approximately 112 miles (180 km) east of Moscow. The company’s facilities have been repeatedly targeted in recent weeks.
The strikes follow a series of heavy Russian missile attacks on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, on Saturday, which left at least nine people dead.
