Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has committed his long-term future to the club by signing a new four-year contract extending until 2030.
The 26-year-old’s previous deal was set to run out next summer, but he has opted to extend his stay at the Etihad Stadium following the arrival of new head coach Enzo Maresca.
The England international—who was omitted from Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad in May after making just 23 Premier League starts during a mixed campaign—expressed his delight at extending his stay with his boyhood club.
Reunited with Maresca
Foden made his senior debut as a 17-year-old under former manager Pep Guardiola, going on to feature 369 times for City while winning six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and a Champions League trophy.
He pointed to the return of Maresca as a key factor in his decision, with the Italian having previously served as Guardiola’s assistant during the club’s Treble-winning 2022-23 campaign.
“Committing my future to City means everything to me. Playing for this club is all I’ve ever wanted to do,” Foden said.
“I can’t wait to work with Enzo again. He was brilliant during the Treble season – someone all the players respected and loved working with.”
