Nigeria’s NNPC Sees Leadership Handover as New Chief Pledges Continuity

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has witnessed a change in leadership, with Bashir Ojulari officially taking over as the new Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO). He succeeds Mr. Mele Kyari, who has stepped down from the role.

The handover ceremony took place at the NNPC Towers in Abuja on Friday. Mr. Ojulari paid tribute to his predecessor’s contributions to the state oil firm and his service to Nigeria.

The incoming GCEO stated his management’s primary goal would be to build upon the achievements made under Mr. Kyari’s leadership and to further elevate the company.

“Though the targets set for my management are quite enormous, I will be relying on the co-operation of the Management and staff of the company, as well as the counsel of my predecessor to achieve set targets,” Mr. Ojulari said. He directly addressed Mr. Kyari, stating, “I will be counting on your support. I will need it. I will be coming around to seek your counsel.”

For his part, Mr. Kyari congratulated Mr. Ojulari on his appointment and expressed his gratitude to the management and staff for their support during his tenure. He pledged his full support to the new management team, assuring them he would be available to offer guidance.
