President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to the welfare and interest of citizens in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, amid ongoing efforts to reintegrate these countries into the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Speaking during a meeting with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Abuja, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of diplomacy in resolving the crisis. As Chairman of ECOWAS, he stressed that the regional body would not tolerate unconstitutional governments and would continue to explore diplomatic channels to address the situation.
President Tinubu also assured that ECOWAS would maintain open doors for collaboration and cooperation, prioritizing the well-being of innocent citizens in the affected countries.
German President Steinmeier echoed this sentiment, highlighting the significant economic and security implications of the reintegration of Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso into the regional body.
