Military repels armed attack, recovers rustled livestock in Sokoto

Troops of the 248 Reconnaissance Battalion under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have repelled an attack by armed terrorists in Badiya village, located in the Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto State, northwestern Nigeria.

Acting on credible intelligence regarding suspicious movements in the area, military forces engaged the hostile group with superior firepower, forcing the assailants to retreat into nearby terrain.

During the retreat, the attackers abandoned a large herd of rustled livestock. The recovered animals were formally handed back to community members in a ceremony coordinated alongside the Chairman of the Shagari Local Government Area and the local district head.

Military authorities stated that the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to protect rural livelihoods, prevent cattle rustling, and restore security across vulnerable communities in the region.
