ABUJA — The Tinubu Stakeholders Forum (TSF) has called for a transparent investigation into allegations that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has failed to pay its workers’ salaries for over 12 months.
In a statement signed by Chairman Ahmad Sajoh and Secretary Danjuma Sada, the political group described the row as a key test of financial accountability for opposition parties aspiring to manage public resources.
The controversy follows claims raised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council regarding the welfare and compensation of ADC staff.
TSF noted that, if substantiated, the failure to meet basic payroll obligations raises serious doubts about the party’s internal financial management, operational sustainability, and leadership priorities.
“Nigeria’s treasury is not a pot of soup,” the statement read. “Public office is a sacred trust, and the resources of the Nigerian people must never be regarded as an entitlement for politicians, political associates or their supporters.”
Calls for transparency ahead of 2027
The forum urged former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and the ADC leadership to publicly address questions surrounding the party’s funding sources, internal accounting standards, and administrative debt obligations.
Highlighting the upcoming 2027 general elections, TSF emphasized that political parties seeking to govern the nation must first demonstrate transparent resource management within their own organizations rather than relying on unbacked electoral promises.
“As Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections, every political organization must recognize that the national treasury belongs to the Nigerian people,” the group added. “Its resources are meant for public development, essential services and the welfare of citizens, not private enrichment or political patronage.”
