Parts of Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, will experience a temporary interruption to electricity supply on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, to allow for annual preventive maintenance on key transmission infrastructure.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced that technical teams will service the Gwarimpa–Kubwa 132/33kV Line 1 bay switchgear and associated equipment at the Kubwa transmission substation.
The scheduled maintenance exercise will run for three hours, between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
During the maintenance window, the local distribution utility, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), will be unable to offload bulk power to residential and commercial customers across Kubwa, Bwari, and surrounding districts within the Federal Capital Territory.
TCN apologized for the brief disruption, noting that the routine maintenance is required to maintain system stability and prevent unscheduled equipment failures along the capital’s power distribution network.
