Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have thwarted a mass kidnapping attempt and rescued 14 victims during a tactical operation in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The rescue followed credible intelligence received on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, alerting security forces to suspicious movements around Magazu Village.

Key Details of the Engagement

Responding swiftly to the alert, military personnel deployed to the area and intercepted armed assailants attempting to abduct civilians and motorists along the route:

  • Gunfire and Rescue: Troops engaged the armed group in a firefight, forcing the attackers to abandon their operational vehicle and retreat into the surrounding bushland.
  • Casualties and Medical Aid: During a search of the immediate area, troops located and safely evacuated 14 hostages. One victim who suffered gunshot wounds was rushed to the General Hospital in Tsafe for urgent medical treatment.
