President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on securing a second term in the Osun State governorship election, describing the outcome as evidence of a flourishing democracy in Nigeria.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President confirmed he had phoned Adeleke to offer his best wishes following the declaration of results on Sunday morning.
Presidential Call to Unity
Tinubu said the election outcome reflected the confidence residents place in the governor’s leadership, calling on Adeleke to foster political reconciliation across the state.
“His victory once again confirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in him,” Tinubu said. “Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election.”
The President commended competing political parties for their participation, praising the security agencies and election administrators for delivering a transparent contest.
Bipartisan Endorsement Responding to the President’s phone call, Adeleke expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing Tinubu as a son of Osun State and reaffirming his endorsement of the President’s bid for a second term in 2027.
The governorship poll concluded on Sunday morning when election authorities formally declared Adeleke the winner after he secured a majority of the votes cast across 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas.
