Nigeria, Saudi Arabia to target deeper trade ties at Abuja investment summit

Nigeria and Saudi Arabia are set to host a major trade and investment summit aimed at dispelling market misconceptions, addressing regulatory hurdles, and unlocking commercial opportunities between the two nations.

The second Nigeria-Saudi Diaspora Investment and Tourism Exhibition will take place in Abuja on August 4 and 5, following a successful inaugural summit in 2019 that drew more than 30 Saudi enterprises.

Speaking at a media briefing on Friday, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, head of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), noted that the summit comes at a crucial time to translate long-standing cultural and diplomatic relations into structured economic partnerships.

In a statement read by NiDCOM Secretary Sule Bassi, Dabiri-Erewa emphasised that the event would catalyze cross-border investment and technology transfer.

Focus on key growth sectors

The upcoming two-day exhibition is expected to draw over 100 exhibitors and more than 5,000 visitors across 20 commercial sectors.

Key areas of focus for the bilateral talks include:

  • Energy and Manufacturing: Strategic partnerships in industrial development and power infrastructure.
  • Agriculture and Food Security: Expanding trade routes and joint agricultural investments.
  • Real Estate and Tourism: Promoting cross-border property developments and commercial travel.
  • Technology Transfer: Facilitating technical exchange between Nigerian and Saudi firms.

Organiser Muhammed Umar Yaro confirmed that the summit, hosted in collaboration with the Association of Nigerians in Diaspora, Saudi Arabia (ANDiSA), aims to engage policymakers directly to resolve trade barriers and streamline investment protocols between the two countries.
