Nigeria’s Super Falcons Backed to Extend Record Continental Dominance

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have received high-level backing as they launch their bid for an unprecedented 11th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco.

The endorsement came in a official statement released on Tuesday by Ademola Lawrence, spokesperson for the Federal Character Commission (FCC) in Abuja.

In the goodwill message, the FCC’s Executive Chairman, Hulayat Omidiran, urged the reigning champions to maintain their discipline and focus throughout the tournament.

Omidiran, a former FIFA Women’s Football Committee member and prominent advocate for women’s sports in Nigeria, described the team as a source of national pride whose success continues to inspire young girls across the country.

”The entire nation is behind you as you chase a record-extending 11th WAFCON crown,” Omidiran said. “Stay united, remain focused and continue to display the fighting spirit that has made the Super Falcons the pride of Africa.”

The Super Falcons, Africa’s most successful women’s football team, are set to open their Group B campaign against Malawi, before taking on Zambia and Egypt in the group stage.
