Five suspected kidnappers have been arrested during a joint operation by military troops and local hunters in Yobe State.
Troops from Sector 2, Operation Hadin Kai, working alongside the Yobe State Hunters Group, carried out the intelligence-led raid in Jegalari village, Fune Local Government Area, on Thursday.
Security forces recovered three locally fabricated AK-47 rifles, a locally made pistol, assorted ammunition, and four mobile phones believed to be connected to criminal activities.
In a statement issued on Friday, Captain Mohammed Goni, spokesperson for the Joint Task Force in the North East, confirmed the suspects remain in custody for further investigation.
“The suspects are currently in military custody alongside the recovered exhibits to ascertain their involvement in kidnapping and other related criminal activities,” Goni said.
The military described the raid as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal and insurgent networks across the region, while appealing to the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to security agencies.
