ABUJA, Nigeria—The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced a significant redeployment of its senior leadership as part of a strategic move to improve operational efficiency and road safety enforcement across Nigeria.
The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, approved the changes on Wednesday, describing them as an effort to “reposition” the agency for better service delivery and professionalism.
Key Appointments
Among the most high-profile changes is the appointment of Olusegun Ogungbemide as the Assistant Corps Marshal (ACM) in charge of Operations at the national headquarters in Abuja. Mr. Ogungbemide, a former Sector Commander for Lagos State, will now oversee nationwide enforcement and field operations.
In a related move, Felicia Kalu has been elevated to the role of Acting Corps Public Education Officer. She will take charge of the agency’s communication strategy, media engagement, and national advocacy campaigns.
Strategic Redeployments
The reshuffle also includes several other senior postings:
- Maxwell Lede moves from his role as Katsina Sector Commander to become the Corps Intelligence Officer.
- HA Ibrahim takes over as the new Katsina Sector Commander, moving from the FRSC Academy.
- HA Ogundayo has been redeployed to the Corps Marshal’s Office to oversee National Traffic Radio operations.
The statement, signed by Assistant Corps Commander Agboola Olundegun, noted that the affected officers are expected to bring their “wealth of experience” to their new roles immediately.
The FRSC is Nigeria’s government agency responsible for road safety management, including traffic law enforcement, driver licensing, and the prevention of road accidents. The agency stated it remains “steadfast” in its mission to create safer roads through intelligence-driven enforcement and public education.
