Nigerian Governor Surprises Street Vendor with Job Offer, Generous Purchase

Osogbo, Nigeria – Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has gone viral after a video emerged of him buying all the snacks from a street vendor and offering her a job as a chef in the Government House. The incident occurred during a solidarity rally held by public servants in the state capital.

In the video, the governor is seen sitting in his vehicle, where he beckons to the woman selling “puff-puff,” a popular Nigerian fried dough snack. After inquiring about the total cost of her snacks, Governor Adeleke hands the woman a bundle of ₦50,000 (approximately $33 USD), an amount far exceeding the value of her goods. The gesture was met with cheers from the crowd, who quickly gathered to share the snacks.

Following the impromptu purchase, the governor invited the vendor into his car. Upon learning that she held a Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) and was an experienced cook, he instructed his aides to take her contact details for immediate employment as a chef at the Government House.

The event was later confirmed by a state official, Olaniyan Taofeek, who serves as a Commissioner in the Osun State Civil Service Commission. He shared the video on X (formerly Twitter), celebrating the governor’s act of benevolence.
