ABUJA, Nigeria – The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his passing as the close of an era defined by dedication to Nigeria.
In a statement issued by Gabriel Odu from NiDCOM, Dabiri-Erewa extended her condolences to the Buhari family, the government and people of Katsina State, and all Nigerians. She acknowledged the former leader’s extensive contributions to national development and his role in elevating Nigeria’s standing on the international stage.

Dabiri-Erewa specifically highlighted President Buhari’s commitment to strengthening foreign relations and fostering the active involvement of Nigerians living abroad in national growth. She recalled his support for the establishment of NiDCOM in 2019, which she noted demonstrated “his deep appreciation for the Nigerian Diaspora and his belief in their capacity to contribute meaningfully to the nation.”
The NiDCOM boss urged Nigerians, both at home and abroad, to uphold the values of integrity, patriotism, and selfless service that she said the late President exemplified.
