Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced with deep sorrow the death of Zainab Momodu, the Acting Head of Mission (Chargé d’Affaires ad interim) at the Embassy of Nigeria in Guinea-Bissau. Mrs. Momodu passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the Military Hospital in Bissau, following a brief illness.
The announcement was made in a press release signed by Kimiebi Ebienfa, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja. Mrs. Momodu joined the Nigerian Foreign Service in 2010 as a member of the 20th Regular Course of the Foreign Service Academy.
The Ministry described her as a “hardworking and dedicated career diplomat” who served Nigeria with “distinction, commitment and professionalism in different capacities.” Her untimely death is considered a significant loss to the Ministry, the diplomatic community, and the nation as a whole.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended its heartfelt condolences to her immediate family, colleagues, and friends, praying for the peaceful repose of her soul and for comfort for all who mourn her.
