Kogi, Nigeria – Governor Ahmed Ododo of Nigeria’s Kogi State has called on Muslim faithfuls to embrace the values of unity, sacrifice, and compassion as they mark the Eid al-Adha celebration.
Speaking at the Okene Central Eid Ground, Governor Ododo emphasised the spiritual significance of the occasion, likening it to the obedience and unwavering faith demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim. In his address, Ododo urged Muslims to serve as “exemplary ambassadors of peace and unity,” stressing the importance of peaceful coexistence and mutual respect across Nigeria’s diverse religious and ethnic communities. He underscored that societal progress is contingent on an atmosphere of peace and harmony. The Governor also called upon all Muslims to uphold principles of integrity, generosity, and service, particularly during the festive period. Reiterating his administration’s commitment, Governor Ododo affirmed a dedication to inclusive governance and the welfare of all Kogi State residents, irrespective of their religious affiliations. He also appealed to the people of Kogi State and Nigerians nationwide to support the administration of President Bola Tinubu, whose “Renewed Hope Agenda” aims to lay the groundwork for a more prosperous Nigeria.
Governor Ododo highlighted his own administration’s efforts in Kogi State, including strengthening security, expanding infrastructure, supporting agricultural development, and bolstering education and healthcare systems. He added that his government is also focused on industrialisation, rural development, and job creation to ensure no community is left behind. The Governor was accompanied by notable figures including former Governor Yahaya Bello, Chief of Staff Alhaji Ali Bello, and Kogi State APC Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Bello.
