French Open 2025: Sinner Sweeps Past Bublik to Reach Semi-Finals

Paris, France – Top seed Jannik Sinner has advanced to the semi-finals of the French Open with a dominant straight-sets victory over Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik, ending Bublik’s unexpected run at Roland Garros.

The Italian, in imperious form, secured a 6-1 7-5 6-0 win and remains yet to drop a set in the tournament. Sinner is pursuing his first major title on the Parisian clay, having previously reached the semi-finals last year where he was defeated in a five-set thriller by Carlos Alcaraz.

World number 62 Bublik had enjoyed a remarkable resurgence at this year’s French Open, but his unconventional style found no answer against Sinner’s precise play.

“We have faced each other a few times so I know him quite well, but with him [Bublik] you never know what’s happening,” Sinner commented after the match. “He deserves to be in the quarter-finals, he beat very tough players. I tried to stay focused on my side and play as solidly as possible because he can have ups and downs so I tried to stay consistent.”

The victory extends Sinner’s winning streak at Grand Slam tournaments to 19 matches, following his triumphs at last year’s US Open and the Australian Open in January.

He will face the winner of the quarter-final match between sixth seed Novak Djokovic and German third seed Alexander Zverev, who are scheduled to play later on Wednesday. The other men’s semi-final will feature Carlos Alcaraz against Lorenzo Musetti, a contest confirmed on Tuesday.

The French Open is being held at Roland Garros from May 25 to June 8, 2025.
