Nigeria’s Foreign Minister Heads to Brussels for AU-EU Talks

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, is set to lead the country’s delegation to the 3rd African Union-European Union Ministerial Meeting in Brussels, Belgium.

The talks are scheduled to take place from Monday, 19th May to Wednesday, 21st May, 2025. In a statement signed by Kimiebi Ebienfa, the Ministry’s spokesperson, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja highlighted the long-standing relationship between the two blocs, which officially began with the first AU-EU summit in Cairo back in 2000. Five summits have been held since then, shaping the partnership between Africa and Europe.

Ahead of the main ministerial meeting, African ambassadors will gather on Monday, followed by a meeting of senior officials on Tuesday. During the plenary session, Ambassador Tuggar is expected to address the crucial issues of peace, security, and governance.
