Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has refuted claims circulating online that it has set a date for the resumption of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), transfers, and the replacement of lost Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs).
In a statement released on Sunday, INEC urged the public to disregard a fake and anonymous statement suggesting that these services would resume on 27th May 2025.
The electoral body emphasised that it has not yet announced any date for the resumption of the CVR or related activities.
Rotimi Oyekanmi, the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, stated that in line with its established practice, the Commission will officially announce the date for the resumption of the CVR at the appropriate time. He added that full details of the exercise will also be shared through INEC’s official social media platforms.
INEC’s swift response aims to counter misinformation and ensure that the public relies only on verified information from the Commission regarding electoral processes.
