Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has unveiled the country’s 2025 budget, with a total expenditure of N47.9 trillion.
The budget allocations prioritize defence and security, with N4.91 trillion earmarked for this sector. Infrastructure development will receive N4.06 trillion, while health and education will get N2.48 trillion and N3.5 trillion, respectively.
President Tinubu emphasized that the budget reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening the economy and addressing critical sectors essential for growth and development. He also highlighted the importance of security, stating that the government will continue to provide security forces with modern tools and technology to keep the nation safe.
The budget proposal, titled “The Restoration Budget, securing peace, building prosperity,” aims to achieve a number of key objectives, including reducing inflation from 34.6% to 15% and improving the exchange rate from 1,700 naira per US dollar to 1,500 naira.
